Florida State’s Matthew Cleveland drilled a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 64-63 win over Virginia in Charlottesville.
The last-second play was just as impressive because of Harrison Prieto’s pass, giving men’s college basketball fans Grant Hill-to-Christian Laettner déjà vu. Prieto unleashed a three-quarters-court pass from his own baseline with just one second left on the game clock to set up Cleveland’s heroics.
Cleveland, a freshman, had just enough time to catch, turn and get off a long-range heave. He hit nothing but net, stunning the John Paul Jones Arena crowd and setting off a wild on-court celebration for the Seminoles.
