Junior women’s basketball player Joy Sanders (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit) is this week’s Shorewoman of the Week. Sanders scored a career-high 16 points, including the game-tying layup late in the first overtime period in a 71-66 double overtime win over McDaniel on Wednesday night.
Trailing 61-59 with just under seven seconds, Sanders intentionally missed the second free throw, grabbed the rebound and then tied the contest at 61-61 on a lay-in to highlight her 16-point and seven-rebound performance. The Shorewomen would outscore McDaniel in the second extra session, 10-5, to come away with the five-point win.
