Stanley Johnson joined the Los Angeles Lakers on a 10-day hardship exemption contract but managed to leave a good impression on the coaching staff and was rewarded with a second contract under the same conditions.
While it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old power forward will remain with the purple and gold, he has been getting positive comments from the head coach Frank Vogel.
“In terms of Stanley, Stanley just brings that kind of energy and toughness that would help any team,” Vogel said. “Obviously playing small ball center defensively at least is something that’s given us a lift and we’re getting something out of [Trevor Ariza] and [Stanley Johnson].”
So far Johnson appeared in 7 games for the Lakers, averaging 5.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 22.6 minutes per game.
