Jonathan Kuminga’s latest Instagram post should scare Suns away

The Phoenix Suns may have had a busy offseason – with no fewer than nine new faces through the door and counting – but they have identified an opportunity to add a young player with upside and are doing everything they can to make it happen. That would be Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors – and while the Warriors are growing tired of the chatter – there’s still a way this happens.

Phoenix is rumored to have offered Nick Richards, Royce O’Neale and four second round picks to the Warriors for the 22-year-old, although as you might expect that hasn’t moved the needle. It’s certainly a starting point though – and although the ball is in the Warriors’ court as Kuminga is a restricted free agent – it is clear they want to move on from all of this chatter as soon as possible.

In an effort to perhaps push through a deal, Kuminga took to Instagram with the caption “I’ll bet on myself all day”, which likely means he’ll sign a qualifying offer with Golden State in order to land a much bigger payday down the road. This always comes with a risk – it has backfired on others before and there’s always the chance of injury – but Kuminga wants to get paid.
