Women’s Basketball to Face Texas A&M in Sunday Showdown


COLUMBIA, Mo – University of Missouri women’s basketball will travel to face Texas A&M this Sunday at 3 p.m. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network.

Missouri (12-13, 1-9 SEC) is coming off a loss to No. 6 LSU on Thursday. Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter led the team with 18 points and a career-high two blocks.

Junior guard Ashton Judd reached her 50 career double-digit game with 17 points.

Senior forward Laniah Randle tallied 15 points and three rebounds.

Graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi grabbed 12 rebounds, the most of her career as a Tiger.

Slaughter leads the Tigers with 15.0 points per game this season and ranks sixth in the conference in free throw percentage at 84.4.

Slaughter is sixth in the country in 3-point percentage (45.7) among athletes who average 1.5+ makes per game this season. She led Missouri with a career-best 31 points against Miss. State (Jan. 27), including the final game-winning basket at the buzzer.

Judd is averaging 13.3 points per game in SEC play.

Sophomore guard Abbey Schreacke is tied for second in the SEC with 54 3-pointers this season. With the 54 triples, she is third among all program sophomores for 3-pointers made in a season. Schreacke also ranks seventh in the SEC in 3-point percentage (38.0).

Averi Kroenke ranks fifth in the SEC and 22nd in the country with a 2.48 assist-to-turnover ratio. Kroenke recorded a career-high eight assists against Tennessee on Feb. 2.

As a team, the Tigers are second in the SEC and are ninth nationally in 3-point percentage at 37.6 percent.

Hannah Linthacum’s father Larry played tight end for KC Chiefs head coach Andy Reid at Mizzou from 1989-1990 when Reid served as the Tigers’ offensive line coach.

The game will mark the 34th meeting between the teams with Texas A&M leading 21-12.

The Aggies enter Sunday at 10-12 including a 3-7 mark in SEC play following a loss to Auburn on Thursday.

Texas A&M is coached by Joni Taylor who is in her third year with the program with a 33-45 record.

Taylor spent seven years at Georgia and has totaled an overall career record of 178-120.
