SEC basketball updated standings, No. 1 Auburn continues to soar

Week 11 in college basketball saw some ups and downs for several SEC teams, starting with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

No. 4 Alabama suffered an ugly 74-64 loss at home to the Ole Miss Rebels on Tuesday, then followed it up with an impressive 102-97 win at Rupp Arena over the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.

For their part, Chris Beard’s Rebels beat Alabama only to then fall Saturday in Starkville to archrival Mississippi State. The Bulldogs’ 84-81 win puts them in a five-way tie among SEC standings.

The SEC-leading Auburn Tigers, the nation’s No. 1 team atop the polls, blew out Mississippi State at home before surviving a close call on the road against a rising Georgia Bulldogs program that’s shown signs of promise under former Florida Gators coach Mike White.

Tennessee, ranked No. 1 for five consecutive weeks earlier this season, appeared to have righted the ship after a blowout win on Rocky Top against Georgia earlier in the week, only to lose at Vanderbilt.

Before the release of the new Top 25 polls Monday, here’s an updated look at the current SEC standings.
