Auburn basketball fans can now breathe calmly.
The No. 1 Tigers escaped Athens on Saturday by earning a 70-68 win over No. 23 Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia. Auburn led the Bulldogs by nine points with 0:41 remaining in the game before Georgia’s Silas Demary Jr. notched five quick points to trim Auburn’s lead.
Auburn has now won two straight games over ranked opponents in the absence of Johni Broome, who is missing time due to an ankle injury. Tahaad Pettiford led all scorers by dropping 24 points off the bench. Chad Baker-Mazara and Miles Kelly followed suit by scoring 13 points each.
A win is a win, and now Auburn will have one week to focus on its next opponent, the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers next Saturday at Neville Arena. Here are the best photos from Auburn’s tight win at Georgia on Saturday.
