The first Lone Star Trophy of the SEC basketball series belongs to Texas A&M, and the Aggies outright earned the trophy on Saturday night.
Blowout wins will not be a regular sight in the SEC conference, but getting one against your longtime rival is a big momentum booster. Offseason transfer additions Zhuric Phelps and Pharrel Payne were unstoppable in the second half and dominated in the paint, routinely scoring around the room.
It’s just the start of conference play, and the Aggies look like a team that needs to hit a few more shots a game to become one of the top 10 teams in college basketball.
