Even despite the 2024-25 college basketball season having only just begun, it’s clear already that the Alabama Crimson Tide will be one of the greatest teams the sport has to offer throughout this year.
Alabama is among the deepest teams in all of college basketball after their run to the Final Four a year ago, and return many of the same prominent pieces from that team.
The Crimson Tide on top of that are also off to an undefeated 1-0 start to the season with a dominant 110-54 win over UNC Asheville, and are ranked as the nation’s No. 2 team in both the AP and Coaches’ Polls.
This thought of Alabama being among college basketball’s best this season is also echoed by the latest odds for the eventual national champion according to BetMGM, who have the Crimson Tide very highly among the favorites.
Alabama is currently tied for the second-best odds of any program to win the national championship at +1000, which they share with the Duke Blue Devils. The only teams in front of the Crimson Tide and Blue Devils are the Kansas Jayhawks and UConn Huskies, who are tied for the highest odds at +900.
If the Crimson Tide make it that far to play for a title, then it would be the first time in program history that Alabama plays in a national championship game in basketball. However, time will obviously tell the ultimate answer to that question, but it’s obvious that Alabama could have a strong chance to be there among the final teams in the end.
The Crimson Tide will officially return to action Friday night at home against Arkansas State.
