Projecting Iowa basketball’s starting lineup, bench for 2024-25 season

In its backcourt, Drew Thelwell will factor in heavily at point guard. The Morehead State transfer averaged 10.0 points, 6.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game last season. Thelwell, a 6-foot-3, 195 pound graduate guard, shot 43.5% from the field and 33.8% from 3-point distance last year.

Sophomore Pryce Sandfort will be someone that Iowa is counting upon to take another step forward after averaging 2.3 points and shooting 34.7% from beyond the arc in his freshman season.

Seydou Traore, Iowa’s other transfer portal addition via Manhattan, averaged 11.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 43.3% from the field, 25.6% from 3-point range and 80.0% from the charity stripe.

Redshirt senior forward Even Brauns is back after seeing just 3.6 minutes per game last season, but he provides more depth on the interior. Freshmen forwards Cooper Koch and Chris Tadjo are two other names to keep an eye on.
