UMTERPS.COM SAT DOWN WITH BREANNA WILLIAMS TO GET TO KNOW HER ON AND OFF THE COURT

Q: What made you start playing basketball?

Breanna Wiliams: I was around it a lot, like when I was young, my parents were playing intramurals and around it, and then I kind of just found a love for it, like on my own, like my parents just put me in it. They didn’t force me to play. And then I just kind of found that love.

Who’s been the most influential person in your life?

BW: I would have to say, like, top tier, my parents, and my family. I’m super big on family, and so having them to lean on with my highs and my lows is just super, super important in my life.

Do you have any pre game rituals?

BW: I do, like, so I normally go with the slick back bun. I’ve worn the same hairstyle every single time that I’ve played, basically, and I don’t plan on changing it here, yep. So just slick back button headband, yeah, and then I put my shoes on from right to left, and that’s about it.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

BW: Best piece of advice I’ve ever received is my dad and my mom telling me a lot like they give me a lot of advice. One of the things is like, let your work, speak, not your actions, and like you’ll get what you deserve in due time.

What’s your intended major and dream job?

BW: My intended major is right now to study kinesiology in hopes of getting a degree in that and then going into the medical field to be an orthopedic surgeon, to work with athletes or go professional. I’ve got two routes.

Why did you choose Maryland?

BW: I just think it was super special. It’s super far from home. But the biggest thing that I loved about it was just the family aspect. Even though I’m about 2000 miles away, like coming back here, I literally have a whole family, like my teammates, the coaching staff, everybody, it feels like home. And I just kind of wanted to change the scenery to, you know, experience something different. It’s been great, awesome.

What was your favorite part of the Croatia trip?

BW: I think the favorite part was being on that catamaran for like, all day. I mean, the vibes were good. Everybody was singing, dancing, tanning, like, taking naps, like it was just, it was just a whole vibe. Like, Noelle Cobb had a great playlist going for like eight hours. It was awesome.
