Weβre entering a year of significant change in the SEC with the league expanding to 16 teams as Texas and Oklahoma join the fold.
So far, we havenβt seen many changes to how conference scheduling works, with the football schedule remaining at eight games and the menβs basketball schedule at 18 heading into the 2024-25 athletics season.
However, the former has been the subject of conversation regarding potential expansion, and now the latter could be as well. According to a report from Jon Rothstein for College Hoops Today, the league has been having discussions centered around expanding the schedule to 20 games for the 2025-26 season.
Rothstein stressed however that his sources say it is βtoo earlyβ to say whether an expanded schedule will actually be enacted. Currently, the SEC is the only power conference that does not play a 20-game basketball schedule.
