Forward Cameron Williams Signs With Miami Women’s Basketball

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami women’s basketball continues to announce its offseason signings as University of Michigan graduate transfer Cameron Williams officially joins the Hurricanes as made public Tuesday, May 14.

Williams brings in four years of collegiate experience as a veteran forward, having logged 109 games played and 49 starts with the Michigan Wolverines. The 6-3 post player started 33 games as a junior, logging at least 17.7 minutes per game over her final two seasons in Ann Arbor.

“We’re so excited Cameron is coming to the University of Miami,” head coach Tricia Cullop said. “Cameron is a veteran center from the Big Ten who will provide great scoring ability, rebounding and experience. She is also a perfect fit for our culture.”

A native of Chicago, Ill., Williams tallied 569 points and 336 rebounds at Michigan, earning three Academic All-Big Ten laurels. A stellar student, Williams was also a recipient of Michigan’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and was a Collegiate Sports Communicator Academic All-District honoree.

Last year she finished strong, scoring in double figures in four of Michigan’s final five contests. As a junior she went for an 18-point and 10-rebound double-double at No. 3 Ohio State.

A prep star at Chicago’s Whitney Young High School, Williams was a member of the National Honor Society and honor roll. She was a five-star recruit per ESPN HoopGurlz and was slotted at No. 30 in her recruiting class. Williams’ father, Aaron, was a standout college basketball player at Xavier University, playing professionally from 1993-2008 between the NBA and international stage.

Williams joins offseason signees Haley and Hanna Cavinder, Daniela Abies, Natalija Marshall and Darrione Rogers.
