2024 NBA draft combine: Updates on Rockets’ No. 3 hopefuls

The NBA draft combine takes place this week in Chicago, and with it comes measurements and on-court drills for many top prospects.

For the Rockets, who unexpectedly landed the No. 3 selection in Sunday’s draft lottery, it offers an opportunity to get up close and personal with a number of top 2024 prospects that were previously expected to be off the board prior to Houston’s pick range.

Going by the top seven selections in HoopsHype’s latest 2024 aggregate mock draft, five are in Chicago this week. The lone exceptions are Nikola Topic of Serbia and Zaccharie Risacher of France, who are playing overseas for their professional teams. That leaves Alex Sarr, Reed Sheppard, Matas Buzelis, Robert Dillingham, and Donovan Clingan. All are taking part in at least some combine activities this week.

While many will go through more extensive private workouts with teams near the top of the draft, including Houston, this week offers an immediate, post-lottery opportunity for the Rockets and other winners to advance their evaluations.

Here’s a roundup of what we learned and saw on Monday, May 13.
