CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference had 11 student-athletes across three winter sports named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Americans following the conclusion of the winter season.
Six different schools had at least one honoree, with the ACC having six student-athletes recognized in women’s swimming and diving, three for men’s swimming and diving, and two honored in women’s basketball.
The Academic All-America acknowledgment was highlighted by repeat honorees in Elizabeth Kitley of Virginia Tech (first team in 2022-23) in women’s basketball, and both Gretchen Walsh of Virginia (second team in 2022-23) and Anna Bradescu of Georgia Tech (third team in 2022-23) in women’s swimming and diving.
Nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don’t have an established graduate grade point average.
The fencing, gymnastics, and wrestling teams are part of the at-large team, which is decided at the end of the academic year in July. The men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams are announced along with cross country and outdoor track and field following the conclusion of the spring season.
