Oregon could be a landing spot for former Arizona center Oumar Ballo

During the past few seasons, Oregon center N’Faly Dante and Arizona center Oumar Ballo had some epic battles.

But the two combatants were far from enemies.

They both hail from Mali and are really good friends, so when Ballo announced a few days ago that he was leaving Tucson and entering the transfer portal, Eugene would be a logical destination.

Although he wouldn’t be playing with Dante as the Oregon center is out of eligibility and will be going to the NBA, Ballo no doubtedly was told how great Oregon was by his fellow countryman.

According to USA TODAY’s and out old friend here at DucksWire, writer Andy Patton has listed Oregon as a possible landing spot for Ballo among four other places.

The biggest thorn in the side of Arizona during Ballo’s tenure, the Oregon Ducks need to replace big man N’Faly Dante in a major way this offseason. The only other big on the roster is the oft-injured Nate Bittle, but  coach Dana Altman is no stranger to navigating the transfer portal or getting productivity out of back-to-the-basket bigs, making Eugene an appealing destination for Ballo’s final year of college basketball eligibility. — Andy Patton

North Carolina, Arkansas, Illinois and Colorado were the other four schools listed as possibilities for Ballo. But there will be many suitors for the former Wildcat. He averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds last season. Ballo also shot 66 percent from the field.
