USC earned a date with UConn and Geno Auriemma — what an achievement

Is this really happening? Yes it is. UConn — the most successful women’s college basketball program of all time — is playing the USC Trojans in the Elite Eight. Geno Auriemma stands in the way of the Trojans, Lindsay Gottlieb, and JuJu Watkins as they attempt to make USC’s first Women’s Final Four since 1986. It is quite a journey to behold. USC, under Gottlieb, went from nowhere (a complete rebuild) in 2022 to the NCAA Tournament in 2023 to an Elite Eight game with UConn in 2024. USC has gone from nowhere to somewhere to the top tier in a very short time. Regardless of whether USC wins this game, the Trojans have already earned a spotlight moment which can only benefit the program in the long run. Geno Auriemma is commenting on USC women’s basketball because that’s the team UConn faces with the Final Four on the line. Find out what Geno said, and more, in this final post before Monday evening’s game in Portland (6 p.m. Pacific time on ESPN):
