Kim Mulkey said you can’t stop Caitlin Clark, you can only hope to contain her. That’s what happened last year when Clark scored 30 in the loss against LSU. Clark got her points, but LSU prevented her from controlling the game.

The Tigers will hope for a similar result on Monday, but the plan of defense will be different. With Alexis Morris gone, Flau’jae Johnson could be tasked with guarding Clark.

Clark is the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer and leads the nation with 31.7 points per game.

Johnson talked about a moment from last year’s national title, where a defensive switch put her on Clark. Johnson said Clark pulled-up from well behind the three-point line and made it, which isn’t something you typically see.

Johnson echoed Mulkey’s sentiment about containing Clark, rather than stopping her, but said she’s up for the challenge.

“I wanna compete at the highest level, and right now Caitlin is the highest level,” Johnson said.
