3 Nets takeaways from Sunday’s 116-104 loss vs. Lakers

For the majority of this game, the Nets did not play much defense against the Lakers.

Los Angeles was able to get whatever they wanted when they were on offense and a large part of that had to do with the attention that LeBron James and Anthony Davis drew.

For example, whenever the ball entered the post to James or Davis, the Nets were sending at least one other player to double and both players are too good passing the ball to see that kind of coverage time after time.

Granted, James and Davis are two of the best players in the NBA so covering them is going to be difficult for any team.

However, James got hot from three-point land and once that happened, the Nets could not do anything with him.

Davis took advantage of the fact that Nic Claxton was the only player the Nets had that could match his in terms of a physical profile, but even Claxton had issues guarding him.

The Nets were able to cut down their 26-point deficit thanks to improvements on the defensive end of the floor, but Brooklyn has played better defense in plenty of games.
