Social media reacts to Armando Bacot’s final game for UNC

Armando Bacot tied atop ACC in double-doubles

North Carolina’s 2023-24 season came to an end in the Sweet 16 against Alabama, 89-87, on Thursday night. It was a disappointing result for UNC; it had a lead with just over a minute left.

But the Crimson Tide made a run behind the play of transfer Grant Nelson and earned their spot in the Elite Eight.

The loss not only ended UNC’s season but also the college career of center Armando Bacot. The fifth-year center scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for another record double-double. Bacot is a true Tar Heel, leaving it all on the court for a program he would die for in his own words.

Bacot spent five seasons with the program, opting to use his COVID-19 year to make another run in the NCAA Tournament. Although UNC came up short, Bacot left an historic career behind and will go down as one of the all-time greats in program history.

Following the game, fans took to social media to thank Bacot for his time at UNC and what he gave to the program.
