Bears Looking For Second Consecutive Win Against Beavers
BERKELEY – The California women’s basketball team returns home from its trip to the mountain schools to host Oregon State Friday at 7 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
This game marks the 80th all-time meeting between the programs, with Oregon State having a slight 40-39 lead in the series which dates back to the 1979-80 season. The Bears (12-5, 2-3 Pac-12) won the most recent matchup in a 64-62 victory on Jan. 29, 2023 at Haas Pavilion.
Oregon State (14-2, 3-2), currently receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll, is led by head coach Scott Rueck, who is in his 14th season at the helm. The Beavers return two starters from last year’s team, headlined by Raegan Beers, the Pac-12’s reigning Freshman and Sixth Player of the Year.
In the most recent head-to-head matchup, Cal was down eight points in the fourth quarter but came away with the 64-62 win after being able to put together a strong defensive effort that allowed only nine Beaver points in the final period. Leilani McIntosh got the assist on the go-ahead layup with 45 seconds left in the game.
Friday’s game will air on Pac-12 Bay Area with Tammy Blackburn and Kylen Mills on the call.
