The North Carolina men’s basketball team has impressed the masses with their season, claiming the No. 9 spot in the previous Associated Press Poll.
Despite being the highest-ranked Atlantic Coast Conference team in the AP Poll, UNC isn’t favored to win the conference. Instead, arch-rival Duke holds the favorable odds to win the ACC as +170 favorites. UNC is next in line as the +200 favorite to win the conference, followed by Miami (+425), Clemson (+550), and NC State (+1600).
Even with Duke being the third-ranked ACC team in the AP poll (No.21) due to a 6-3 start, they are still looked at as the better team by the masses. It will be intriguing if UNC handles business Saturday against No.14 Kentucky if the odds shift in favor of the Tar Heels.
Clemson’s placement is likely to change with their schedule getting tougher. There’s a reason they have the third-best odds despite being the only team in the ACC without a loss. However, if they continue to find ways to win and beat Miami on January 3rd, then do not be surprised if the Tigers cling on to UNC odds for best odds.
