The Philadelphia 76ers and the Dallas Mavericks met at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night in two different positions. The Sixers have their playoff spot clinched and have their eyes set on contending for a championship as they move forward in the East.
The Mavericks are on the outside looking in at the play-in tournament despite having Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving and they needed a win in the worst way. The Sixers, with Joel Embiid and James Harden back in the lineup, had other plans as they sent the Mavs to a 116-108 loss further crippling their fading playoff hopes.
Embiid had 25 points and nine rebounds in a return from a one-game absence while Harden had 15 points on 4-for-14 shooting with 12 assists and four rebounds after a four-game absence. Tyrese Maxey added 22 points, De’Anthony Melton had 17, Georges Niang had 14, and Tobias Harris added 13.

Final: Philadelphia 116, Dallas 108.
A 16-5 run over the final 7 minutes of game action for Philadelphia sends Dallas to a 14th loss in the Mavericks’ last 20 games, and drops them a game behind OKC (if Thunder beat Detroit) for 10th in the West.
Joel Embiid had 25 for Philly.

The Sixers played a C- game and beat a Mavericks team battling for its playoff life.
Something tells me James Harden will get some particular enjoyment out of that one.

Nice bounce back game from De’Anthony Melton: 17 points, 5/6 from three, 6 rebounds, 4 offensive boards, and an assist. He was a game-high +16, and was key in keeping Kyrie in check.
Sixers finally break the 50-win mark.
