USC’s ceiling hasn’t been reached, but the floor is a lot higher

The USC Trojans got a small glimpse of what Big Ten life will be like when they lost to the Michigan State Spartans in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

Yes, there are reasons to be disappointed about the way USC’s season ended, especially with the way Drew Peterson and Boogie Ellis played offensively.

However, let’s not forget how good this USC team has been lately. In fact, over the past three seasons, USC has had 73 wins, tying the record for most wins in program history in a three-year span (73 also from 2020-2022).

Here are the records from the past three seasons as Andy Enfield continues to do a terrific job since coming over from Florida Gulf Coast:

  • 2020-2021: 25-8 (15-5 Pac-12)
  • 2021-2022: 26-8 (14-6 Pac-12)
  • 2022-2023: 22-10 (14-6 Pac-12)

It hasn’t been easy for USC the past couple of seasons, but they have won 20 games in each of the past four seasons and won 14 or more Pac-12 games in each of the last three.

The Trojans will face a lot of questions in the offseason with the departures of Drew Peterson and Boogie Ellis, but despite that, the future is bright, and players want to come to USC to play basketball after the turnaround that Enfield has done.
