Tar Heels reach out to Florida guard

It’s no secret that the UNC basketball program is going to need to use the transfer portal in a big way this offseason.

After seeing three players enter the portal already with the latest being Dontrez Styles, Hubert Davis and his staff will be active in filling out the roster using that portal. And on Saturday, they have reportedly reached out to another prospect.

Per Joe Tipton of On3, the Tar Heels are among the teams that have reached out to Florida guard Kowacie Reeves. He’s heard from a handful of programs including UNC, NC State, Clemson, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Maryland among others.

The guard averaged 8.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.5 assists while shooting 37.7 percent from the field.

The former five-star recruit committed to Florida after receiving 13 offers in his recruitment. North Carolina did show interest at one point but never offered the talented prospect out of Georgia.

UNC does have a need on the wing and with Reeves available, it makes sense for the Tar Heels to reach out and maybe see what the interest is from the former Gators guard.
