For the second time in three seasons, Nebraska’s women’s basketball has won in the opening round of postseason play. The Cornhuskers defeated Missouri State 74-65 in the first round of the WNIT on Wednesday night.
Sam Haiby scored a season-high 25 points while shooting 7 of 11 from the floor and 11 of 13 from the free-throw line. Isabelle Bourne added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The victory improves Nebraska’s season record to 17-14. The win also marked the first postseason home win inside Pinnacle Bank Arena.
As a team, the Cornhuskers shot 46% from the floor and only 26% from three. The free throw line was far more kind to the home team as they shot 73% from the line making 19 of 26 attempts.
Nebraska will play the winner of Thursday night’s first-round WNIT game between North Iowa and Colorado State in Ceder Falls.
