In recent weeks, the issue of the NBA resting players when healthy to preserve them for the whole of a long, 82-game season (better known by most as “load management”) has become notably more controversial with high-profile analysts like former NBAer Charles Barkley making a point of vilifying it.
Is the NBA abusing scheduled rest for star players to the point where it has become a problem the league needs to find a solution for or is it simply a byproduct of a regular season that is likely too long for players to be in their best form over such a long stretch of tilts?
The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast powered by FanDuel recently got into the controversial topic after star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum played better than of late after sitting a game to rest.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say about load management.
