It appears that Andrew Wiggins is addressing an important matter that is truly bigger than basketball.

In the pregame of their Saturday match against the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed that Wiggins remains out of the team due to personal reasons with no clear timeline of return available yet.

Amid pessimism around the star wingman, Kerr expressed optimism on behalf of the club that Wiggins will still find his way back this season.

“We’re giving him his space, as we’ve talked about, as he deals with something that’s way more important than a game,” Kerr said, per NBC Sports’ Dalton Johnson. “If he’s able to come back, that would be great. And if not, then that’s the case. Whatever happens, we’ll handle it accordingly.”

Wiggins has been inactive for the Dubs since Feb. 13, just a few days before the season hit the All-Star festivities.

He is averaging 17.1 points and 5.0 rebounds across 37 games, shooting 47.3 percent from the field and a career-high 39.6 percent from three.

After 5 ½ seasons of failing to meet expectations in the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins gradually blossomed himself as he landed in the Bay Area. Last season became the turning point for the former No. 1 overall pick, obtaining his first All-Star honors while helping the Warriors to revive its dynastic status upon winning the 2022 championship.

Though Golden State (34-33) is in a shaky seventh spot of the Western Conference post as they aim to defend their title, their management and understanding of Wiggins’ personal matters are definitely commendable which depicts their reputation as a world-class team.

With just around five weeks away before postseason action hits, the Dubs will certainly continue to make themselves prepared with or without Wiggins.
