Bucks 'excited' to add veteran Goran Dragic for rest of season

Free agent guard Goran Dragic has agreed to a deal for the rest of the season with the Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced Saturday night.

Dragic, 36, was waived by the Chicago Bulls this week and officially became a free agent on Thursday. He now joins the Bucks after strongly considering them before signing with the Brooklyn Nets a season ago, sources said.

“He’s a great point guard, can score and set the table,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said Saturday after his team’s 133-130 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. “He’s competitive, smart, so we’re excited to add him to our group.”

The Bucks believe Dragic’s tough-minded leadership and abilities can help them off the bench in their championship pursuit. Milwaukee had won 16 straight games before Saturday’s loss and overtaken the Boston Celtics for the best record in the Eastern Conference. Dragic has 60 games of playoff experience.

Dragic was one of the league’s best guards earlier in his career in stops with Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat, and he became a sturdy reserve in the past two seasons with Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls.
