Connor Essegian has had a remarkable freshman season with the Badgers and he is now closing in on setting a new team record for made three-pointers in a season for a freshman. The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 11.5 points and 3.4 rebounds while making 41.6 percent of his shots from the field.
Most notably, Essegian has made 58 three-pointers over 26 games this season, two short of Brad Davison’s freshman record that he set in 2018.
He had a shot at setting the record this weekend versus Rutgers, but he went 0-for-7 from deep in the team’s 58-57 loss to the Scarlet Knights. The contest was his first game without a three-pointer over the Badgers’ last four matchups.
His next chance to cement his name in Wisconsin basketball history will come Wednesday night at the Kohl Center versus Iowa.
