Game To Feature Senior Day And Final Four Anniversary Celebrations

BERKELEY – The California women’s basketball team hosts its final home game of the season with a matchup against No. 25 USC on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game can be viewed on Pac-12 Networks.
 
The Bears will be celebrating Senior Day as they honor the careers of Sela Heide, Evelien Lutje Schipholt, Leilani McIntosh and Peanut Tuitele before tipoff. Fans are also encouraged to stick around after the game for a special announcement.
 
Cal will also be honoring the 10-year anniversary of the team’s Final Four run during the 2012-13 season, inviting back members of the team for a special on-court pregame celebration and reliving highlights from that season.
 
In addition, there will be a silent auction featuring memorabilia from the team’s Final Four run with proceeds benefitting the Cal women’s basketball program as well as a special relief fund designed to help women basketball players located in the region affected by the recent earthquake in Turkey.

USC is led by former Cal head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, who is in her second season with the Trojans. USC is coming off a 12-16 (5-12) season and 10th place finish in the Pac-12. The Trojans return two full-time starters including Rayah Marshall who is second in the conference in blocks (3.3).

  • In the 67-54 loss to No. 16 UCLA:

    • Cal was led by Jayda Curry’s team-high 15 points, 13 of which came in the second half.
    • Curry was joined in double-figures by Leilani McIntosh and Kemery Martín who had 14 points each.

    • In the first meeting at No. 2 Stanford on Dec. 23, Cal shot 43.9 percent from deep, the highest percentage allowed by Stanford, held Stanford to just 29.2 percent from 3-point range, its fourth lowest percentage of the season and the 69 points the Bears put up were the third highest total allowed by the Cardinal all…
