Panthers Carry Six-Game Win Streak Into Blacksburg Saturday

THE OPENING TIP
•  Pitt is on the road at Virginia Tech Saturday, Feb. 18. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. with Wes Durham and Dan Bonner calling the game on ACC Network.
•  The Panthers, currently tied for first in the ACC standings with Virginia, have won six consecutive games and eight of their past nine contests. Pitt defeated Virginia, 68-65, in its lone meeting with the Cavaliers during ACC regular season play.
• Pitt is 6-3 or better against teams ranked above it in each of the major computer calculations (NET, Torvik, KenPom, BPI, and Sagarin).
• The Panthers are 3-0 against teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
• Pitt is 6-1 in ACC road games and is tied for second among power conference schools with seven road victories.
•  Jamarius Burton, an ACC Player of the Year candidate, is averaging 16.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game in conference play. He is shooting 48.7 percent (94-of-193) from the field and 90.5 percent (57-of-63) from the foul line in ACC play. He has scored 15 or more points in 10 of 15 league games.
•  Blake Hinson has posted 23 double-figure scoring games, including 15 games with 15 or more points and seven 20+ point games. He is the only player in the ACC averaging 15.5 or more points (15.9 ppg.) and 6.0 or more rebounds per game (6.3 rpg.) with 65 or more made threes (68 3FG).
•  Greg Elliott has made four three-point field goals in each of the past three games and is averaging 13.7 points per game on 12-of-23 (.522) shooting from beyond the arc.

•  Pitt has won 18 of its past 22 games with its 18 wins since Nov. 20 tied for sixth most in the NCAA in that span.
• The Panthers are tied for 15th in the NCAA with five Quad 1 victories. Pitt’s .714 winning percentage (5-2) in Quad 1 games is fifth best in the NCAA.
