SEATTLE — After sweeping the Bay Area schools on Montlake, including a win vs. then-No. 2 Stanford, Washington women’s basketball (13-9, 5-7) hits the road to take on the pair of ranked Mountain schools. First up is No. 7 Utah (20-2, 10-2) in Salt Lake City for the second meeting between the programs this season. The game tips off Friday, Feb. 10 at 6:00 p.m. PT / 7:00 p.m. MT and will be aired on Pac-12 Mountain with Krista Blunk and Elise Woodward on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.ย

Washington’s first win against a ranked opponent this season. UW out-rebounded Stanford 34-24 and forced 16 turnovers. Elle Ladine led all scorers with 21 points off the bench, her new career high, while also recording a career high 3 steals. Dalayah Daniels (15 points, 7 rebounds) and Haley Van Dyke (14 points) were the other two Huskies in double digits. Van Dyke recorded her first double-double of the season and 8th of her career, also tallying 10 rebounds. UW scored 30 points in the second quarter off 75% shooting (and 100% from three). Washington went on a 10-0 run to take the lead going into halftime, capped off by a Daniels bucket at the buzzer. First time since 2015-16 season UW beat Stanford. First time since 2013-14 season UW beat Stanford during the regular season. The last time UW defeated a ranked opponent was vs. No. 8 UCLA on February 23, 2020. The last time UW defeated a Top-5 ranked opponent was at No. 5 Maryland on March 21, 2016. It was the 9th time in program history UW beat a Top-5 opponent.ย

Utah ranked No. 11 at the time. Game saw 13 lead changes. At halftime, UW trailed by two, 25-27. The 27 points scored by Utah was the first time the Utes had scored below 30 in a half all season. Lauren Schwartz led the Huskies in scoring with 17 points. Dalayah Daniels finished with her 8th career double-double (4th as a Husky) with 14 points and 10 rebounds. UW held Utah to their lowest field goal percentage (35.7%) and lowest scoring all season. Coming into the game, Utah had been shooting 51.9% on average, with their previous low being 42.1% in their season opener. Prior to the game, the fewest points scored by Utah had been 69 vs. Ole Miss.
