Tominaga’s 30 Points Power Nebraska Past Penn State

LINCOLN, NE —Keisei Tominaga scored a career-high 30 points and Jamarques Lawrence hit a dagger 3-pointer with 45 seconds left in the game to put Nebraska ahead 69-60, and the Cornhuskers secured a 72-63 victory against the Penn State Nittany Lions at home Sunday.

The Cornhuskers (11-13, 4-9) had two players score in double figures, led by Tominaga. Lawrence added 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals and Derrick Walker added nine points, six rebounds and seven assists.

The Nebraska offense made hay from beyond the arc, making eight threes on 20 attempts. Tominaga hit five treys for the Cornhuskers in the contest.

Nebraska’s defense held Penn State to only 40 percent shooting from the field. The Nittany Lions did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with eight offensive rebounds and managed eight second chance points while Nebraska cleared 29 defensive rebounds.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 15-13 advantage, Nebraska went on an 11-0 run with 13:31 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Wilhelm Breidenbach, to increase its lead to 26-13. The Cornhuskers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 37-28 advantage.
