How does Mavs-Nets trade alter Timberwolves-Jazz aftermath?

When the Minnesota Timberwolves sent multiple picks and players to the Utah Jazz for All-Star center Rudy Gobert, the fair market value of a number of players who were pushing hard for trades skyrocketed, and the NBA Trade market experienced a bit of a recession. Sure, some trades continued on, but one NBA team, the Brooklyn  Nets, who had begun to negotiate the trade of two NBA stars in both Kyrie Irving and Keven Durant, was forced to table those plans for the time being.

Well, it most definitely looks like NBA Trades are a thing again, as the Brooklyn Nets have pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal that sends star NBA guard Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks for the likes of two players: Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddle, and a first and second-round pick in the distant future: 2029

That means that the Minnesota Timberwolves would be very wise to monitor the Nets in terms of who they may be parting ways with.

Does this help or hurt the Nets? There is no doubt that the production of Kyrie Irving on the basketball court is not getting replaced in this trade. But many have weighed in and are glad to see Irving move, as he has earned a reputation for being a problem for NBA teams. Time will tell.

Timberwolves players are a premium now
