There are fans of the Philadelphia 76ers who have grown tired of P.J. Tucker despite the veteran just signing with the franchise this past summer. Perhaps it’s the $33 million the Sixers owe the 37-year-old forward over the next three seasons or maybe it’s the fact he took a step back this season.
Tucker is still a solid defender, but it appears he’s lost a step and his offense production backs that up. This season he’s averaging just 3.2 points which is the second-lowest of his career. That being written, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have value as a defender and veteran leader on another team.
3 potential Tucker trades: Phoenix Suns
Despite competing for an NBA title just two postseasons ago, the Phoenix Suns find themselves at a crossroads. Father Time has finally caught up to Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton looks disinterested. That’s not to mention the ownership change or the injury issues they have had.
The Suns need another forward and they need a leader. With that in mind, the trade below should make sense for both sides.

The Suns get another leader in Tucker who can still fill a role that they need. Getting what is projected to be the 32nd via the Charlotte Hornets is just a sweetener on the deal. Jae Crowder‘s value is lower than normal due to him not playing this season, so this is a solid return for the veteran.
Crowder brings similar things to the 76ers’ roster that Tucker currently brings in terms of defense and leadership, but last season Crowder averaged 9.4 points on 34.8 percent shooting. He’d be more of a factor on offense which would be helpful.
