Texas A&M has lost a grand total of one game in the last five weeks. Arkansas has lost five in the same span.
Still, the two teams find themselves in about the same place when it comes to NCAA Tournament likelihood. Arkansas may even be a touch ahead of the Aggies on that front.
Neither is feeling awfully comfortable when it comes to the Big Dance, leading to Tuesday nightβs showdown from Bud Walton Arena carrying a heavy weight. Tip time is set for 6 p.m.
Arkansas has won two straight SEC games to pull itself out of the conference cellar. A win against the Aggies would bring the Hogs within a game of .500 in league play after a 1-5 start.
Texas A&M has just one conference loss β at Kentucky on Jan. 21 β and sits in a tie for second. Early-season losses to Colorado, Murray State and Wofford have dented the Aggiesβ resume, though.
As of Jan. 27, the last time Joe Lunardi updated Bracketlogy at ESPN.com, Arkansas was sitting in as a No. 8-seed. Texas A&M was listed in Lunardiβs Last Four Out section.
A Hogs loss probably wouldnβt send them out of the NCAA Tournament projections, but would bring them closer to such a result, whereas a Texas A&M win would likely see the Aggies as βinβ when the next projections roll out.
The good news for Arkansas is that its only lost to Texas A&M once in Fayetteville since 1986. The bad news? The teams have alternated wins and losses over their last eight meetings.
