Tigers projected to land 5-star PG Tahaad Pettiford

Auburn has been heavily involved in the recruitment of five-star point guard Tahaad Pettiford for quite some time but one expert now believes they are the leader.

Pettiford, a member of the 2024 recruiting class, will be announcing his commitment on Feb. 1, and Jamie Shaw, a national recruiting analyst for On3, logged a prediction for the Tigers to land him.

Pettiford announced a top seven of Auburn, Kansas, Kentucky, UConn, UCLA, Seton Hall, and Ole Miss earlier this month. The 5-foot-11, 160-pounder officially visited the Plains on Sept. 17, 2022, his only known official visit at this time.

While he will be deciding between those seven schools, this will likely come down to Auburn and Uconn, who have hosted him for an unofficial visit this season.

The Jersey City, New Jersey, native is the No. 22 overall player and No. 3 point guard in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 2 player from New Jersey.

If Pettiford does commit to Auburn he would be the Tiger’s second commitment in the 2024 recruiting class, joining four-star center Peyton Marshall. With a rating of .9919, Pettiford would be the Tiger’s third-highest-ranked commit ever, trailing Jabari Smith (.9980) and Sharife Cooper (.9920).
