The North Carolina Tar Heels have now won four-straight games after taking down Syracuse on the road Tuesday night. A late bucket by Pete Nance followed by three free throws from Caleb Love sealed the deal for UNC and has them at 15-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
It was also the final game of January for the Tar Heels as they open up the February schedule with a home game against Pitt and then a road game at Duke next week. But the win at Syracuse not only improved their resume, they moved up in the NET ranking too.
It was a small increase, however.
UNC went from No. 32 to No. 31 in the NET rankings after Tuesday’s game, just a one-spot increase. That ranking is primarily based on UNC’s 1-6 record in Quad 1 games this season.
The good news for UNC is that there is a LOT of time to improve the NET before they head into Selection Sunday which is just under 50 days away.
And next week provides a chance to earn another Quad 1 win with their trip to Durham for round one against Duke.
