Caleb Love moves up all-time program scoring list

The UNC basketball program secured another ACC win on Tuesday and in the win, third-year guard Caleb Love moved up the all-time scoring list passing some notable Tar Heels along the way.

Love scored 15 points in UNC’s win over Syracuse this week and moved up to No. 53 all-time in North Carolina history with 1,566 points. He passed Raymond Felton, Ed Cota, Bobby Jones and Ademola Okulaja.

Now, he sits just one point behind Vince Carter.

Love is averaging 16.2 points 3.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this season. He’s had four 20+ point games this year as well and has 17 games in double figures.

Coming into Tuesday’s win, Love had been struggling from the field. In the previous seven games, he was shooting just 29.3 percent from the field on 14.1 attempts.

But, his performance against Syracuse was a welcomed sight. He was 4-of-7 from the field and his three 3s for 15 points.

Love has had an up-and-down career shooting the ball. As a freshman he shot 31.6 percent from the field and 26.6 percent from three. Last year he shot 37.1 percent overall and 36 percent from three. This year he’s at 38.2 percent overall and 28 percent from three. His 47 percent on 2s is 10 percent higher than his previous high.

The Tar Heels return to the court next week against Pitt where Love will likely continue to move up the all-time points leaderboard.
