CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois women’s basketball is set to host the program’s first Philanthropy Night on Thursday as the Illini host Purdue for a 7 p.m. CT game. Since head coach Shauna Green‘s arrival in Champaign-Urbana, she’s made an impact both in the program and community.
Philanthropy Night features opportunities for several local philanthropic organizations to be highlighted inside State Farm Center as the Illini women’s basketball program continues to pull the best attendance numbers in decades.
Evening events will begin as soon as doors open to the public at 6 p.m. A pre-game information fair will be set up for fans to learn more about participating local organizations.
Halftime will feature a Special Olympics scrimmage as the organization is honored across the evening.
Additionally, last year’s Orange Krush Foundation grant winners will be recognized.
While Orange Krush is one of the nation’s premier college hoops student sections, it’s also one of the largest student-run charitable organizations. Each member raises money to support local and national charities in order to join. In its history, the Orange Krush has donated over $2 million to charity.
