Tobias Harris considered the worst contract Sixers have on the roster

Tyrese Maxey reveals how his mindset changed to lead Sixers past Kings

Every team has that one bad contract on its roster. It is that one contract that can be so tough to trade even though the player might be a good one — just not a great one that deserves that type of money.

Such is the case for Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris. The veteran out of Tennessee is a solid player. A very good one. Despite being the fourth scoring option for the Sixers and having his role change almost daily, he is still averaging 16.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 37.4% from deep. He is a very productive player in this league.

However, he is set to make $76.9 million over the course of the 2022-23 and the 2023-24 seasons, and he is ultimately judged by that contract. It’s one of the worst in the league considering the money and the lack of an All-Star appearance.

Bleacher Report certainly agrees. It listed the worst contract on each team’s roster, and Harris was the recipient for Philadelphia:

Harris is a good player who’s paid more like a great one.

Maybe he could level up elsewhere, but he’s a fourth option in Philly who lacks standout skills beyond scoring.

At this point, the Sixers will not find an upgrade for Harris. Despite the large amount of money he’s being paid, the Sixers will just not find a player who will do whatever is asked of him, not whine or complain, and still produce when his number is called.
