Syracuse (13-7, 6-3) hosts North Carolina (14-6, 6-3) for a primetime dance inside the JMA Wireless Dome on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 9:00 p.m.
 
SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange look to lengthen their January home win streak to three and have captured all but one of their last four games. The Tar Heels head to the Hill victorious in their last five of six matchups. 
 
SYRACUSE-NORTH CAROLINA SERIES
North Carolina holds a 15-5 advantage in the all-time pairings with Syracuse, which extends back to the 1956-57 season. The last four meetings have been split evenly between the two squads. The last Orange win against UNC was a 72-70 victory on Mar. 1, 2021.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Orange defeated Georgia Tech, 80-63, on Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Joseph Girard III (28 points) collected season-highs of six 3-pointers and seven assists. Freshman forward Maliq Brown had an 18-point and four-steal personal-best showing. Senior center Jesse Edwards (14 points) and freshman guard Judah Mintz (13 points) rounded out the four Orange performers who scored in double-digits. 
 
ORANGE LEADERS
Girard (17.5 ppg.) has contributed 20 or more points in five of the last seven matchups. Mintz (14.9 ppg.) holds a team-best assists (4.5 apg.) and steals (2.0 spg.) average. Edwards continues to average a double-double with 10.8 boards per game and 13.9 points per matchup. 
 
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
Senior forward Armondo Bacot (17.8 ppg., 11.6 rpg.) leads the Tar Heels and defends the net with a squad-best 1.1 blocks per game. Junior guard RJ Davis (16.8 ppg.) dishes out a team-high 3.2 assists per game. Junior guard Caleb Love (16.3 ppg.) swipes an average of 1.3 steals per contest.
 
SUITS AND SNEAKERS WEEK 
The American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer “Suits And Sneakers Week” is scheduled for Jan. 23-29. The nationwide, annual event helps bring attention to the ongoing fight against cancer. Basketball coaches and players at the collegiate and scholastic levels joined in supporting the initiative. The Syracuse coaching staff is participating again this season.
