Tar Heels receive votes in USA Today Coaches Poll

UNC Basketball 2022-23 player preview: Tyler Nickel

The UNC basketball program is still on the outside looking in when it comes to the top 25 rankings.

On Monday, the updated USA Today Coaches Poll was released and the Tar Heels remained unranked again.

The Tar Heels were among the ‘teams receiving votes’ with just nine votes. That puts them at No. 36 overall in the rankings.

UNC is coming off of an 80-69 win over NC State which gave them its 14th win of the season. Overall, the Tar Heels are 14-6 on the season and 6-3 in the ACC.

After a rough stretch to begin the season, losing four in a row from Nov. 25 to Dec. 4, the Tar Heels have gone 9-2 in the 11 games since, including three wins in a row.

North Carolina also remains unranked in the AP Top 25, receiving 12 votes.

Other ACC programs ranked include: Virginia (No. 6), Miami (No. 19), Clemson (No. 23) and Duke (No. 25).

NC State received 13 votes while Wake Forest received two votes.

North Carolina goes on the road to Syracuse on Tuesday and then has the weekend off before returning to the floor next Wednesday against Pitt — a team that beat the Tar Heels earlier this season.
