THE FLATS – Georgia Tech freshman guard Tonie Morgan was named the ACC Rookie of the Week after leading the Yellow Jackets this past week averaging a double-double, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday.

The Tallahassee, Fla., native posted her second double-double of the season against the Orange behind 16 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Morgan’s 15 rebounds marked the most by a Yellow Jacket this season and the first from a freshman Yellow Jacket since 2019.
On Sunday at No. 17 North Carolina, Morgan nearly missed a double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds, extending her streak to three games scoring in double-figures. For the week, Morgan shot 65 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range.
