How did Rutgers basketball do in this week’s USA TODAY Sports poll?

Isiah Pacheco repped Rutgers football, putting together a big game for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL playoffs.

Rutgers men’s basketball continues to receive votes and is on the cusp of a top 25 ranking in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Last week, Rutgers was receiving the most votes of any unranked program. This week, following a midweek loss at Michigan State, the Scarlet Knights dropped to No. 29 among all vote-getters in the USA TODAY poll.

They got 31 votes in this week’s poll, putting them four spots away from a ranking. Rutgers (13-6, 5-3 Big Ten) will look to get back to their winning ways on Tuesday night at Jersey Mike’s Arena against a very good Penn State team.

Purdue, who Rutgers beat on the road earlier this season, is the No. 1 team in the nation in the USA TODAY poll.

Future Big Ten program UCLA is ranked eighth. Indiana, who Rutgers beat earlier this season, received 61 votes (second-most among teams not ranked).

Michigan State (10 votes), Illinois (nine) and Wisconsin (six) round out the Big Ten’s representation in this week’s USA TODAY poll.
