Arkansas unranked in latest AP Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll

Ricky Council IV named to the Oscar Robertson Award watch list

After splitting their two games this past week, Arkansas basketball will be unranked for the first time all season when they take the court against LSU on Tuesday.

The Razorbacks were ranked No. 25 in both the AP Top 25 poll and USA Today Coaches Poll last week.

In the AP Top 25 poll, Arkansas received nine votes to be ranked which puts them at No. 33 overall. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Arkansas didn’t receive a single vote to remain ranked. Interesting enough, Illinois was the only other team to fall out of the rankings alongside the Razorbacks and they received 37 votes to stay ranked.

Luckily, those two polls don’t decide much of anything when it comes to important postseason decisions. In the important metrics that the NCAA selection committee will look at – like NET ranking, KenPom rating and BPI – Arkansas is still in good shape.

The Hogs are No. 27 in the latest NET rankings, No. 23 in KenPom’s ratings and No. 21 in BPI.

The Razorbacks will have two good chances this week to improve their standing in all five of these metrics when they play LSU tomorrow and travel to Baylor on Saturday.
