PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Florida State, which has won two of its last three games against Pittsburgh, travels to play the Panthers at the Peterson Events Center on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. The game between the Seminoles and the Panthers is the first of two games between the two teams, with the second meeting coming on February 11 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. Florida State is looking to earn its second consecutive victory in the Peterson Events Center after gaining a 79-72 win over the Panthers on February 20, 2021 – the last time these two teams met in Pittsburgh. The Seminoles arrive to play Pitt on their home court fresh from an 84-71 win at Notre Dame on Tuesday night and are playing to win their second ACC road game of the week. Following Saturday’s game at Pitt, the Seminoles return home to the Tuck for a two-game home stand against Miami (January 24, 7:00 p.m.) and Clemson (January 28, 5:00 p.m.).
HAMILTON ON NAISMITH HALL OF FAME BALLOT
Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton, the fifth all-time winningest coach in ACC history, is on the ballot for enshrinement into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The Seminoles’ head coach won his 600th career game as he directed his Seminoles to their 75-64 win over Georgia Tech on January 7, 2023. In addition to the victory being his 600th overall coaching win, the win was his 400th at Florida State, making him only the fifth coach in ACC history to win 400 games as an ACC coach. Hamilton is one of just 17 active collegiate coaches with at least 600 career victories.
CLEVELAND’S DOUBLE-DOUBLE STREAK AT EIGHT CONSECUTIVE GAMES
All-ACC Candidate Matthew Cleveland earned his eighth consecutive double-double as he totaled 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in Florida State’s victory over Notre Dame on Tuesday. He has earned a double-double in points and rebounds in each of Florida State’s games since finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds in Florida State’s victory over USC Upstate on December 13, 2022 in Tallahassee. His streak is currently the longest by a Seminole since Reggie Royals totaled 10 consecutive games with a double-double during the 1971-72 season. Cleveland’s current streak of earning a double-double in six straight ACC games is an ongoing school record.
