UNC women’s basketball has bounced back after a difficult stretch to begin ACC play. Now, they are back in the national conversation.

The UNC women’s basketball program started the season hot, winning their first six games and nine of its first 10 overall. Then, they endured some adversity.

After a rough stretch that saw them lose four straight, Banghart and her team have worked hard to get back on track. UNC’s women have won their last three ACC contests now, bringing them back into the national picture.

In ESPN’s latest bracketology update, the UNC women’s team is back as a No. 4 seed. Being a top-four seed is important, as it would allow the Tar Heels to host the first two rounds at Carmichael Arena.

The recent prediction has UNC facing Northern Iowa in the opening round, who sits atop the Missouri Valley with a 10-5 record. Then, there would be a potential round-of-32 matchup against the Arizona Wildcats.

Having that home-court advantage in March Madness would be quite the advantage for getting them to the Sweet 16. Deja Kelly continues to lead the way for the Tar Heels, as she’s averaging 16.7 points per game on 36.3% from the floor in ACC play.

UNC women’s basketball is back up to 17th in the nation in the latest AP Top 25 poll. They are the fourth highest-rated team from the ACC, so it’s important that the Heels add to their resume and finish the season strong.

They have a huge game on Thursday evening, as they host No. 13 Duke. The Blue Devils are 16-1 this season, and it will provide the ultimate test for Banghart to see where her girls are at this point in the season.
