Wake Forest Hosts No. 19 Clemson in Midweek Battle at LJVM


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men’s basketball team will host the Clemson Tigers Tuesday night (Jan. 17) in the first of two home matches this week. Tipoff against the Tigers, who are undefeated in conference play, is slated for 9 p.m. ET and the game will air live on regional Bally Sports networks.
 
The Deacs (13-5, 4-2) are coming off their third-straight conference win of the season against the Boston College Eagles on Saturday night (Jan. 14) in Chestnut Hill. Additionally, Saturday’s win over the Eagles marked the team’s third victory in the past four all-time meetings between the two teams. Wake Forest never trailed during the contest.
 
ACC opponents have averaged 72.5 points per game against Boston College. As the leading scoring team in ACC play, Wake Forest’s 85 points are the most the Eagles have allowed in Conte Forum this season and the second-most an ACC opponent has scored against Boston College this season. Opponents have been shooting 37.9 percent from three-point range against the Eagles. Wake Forest went 10-of-26 from deep, making 38.5 percent of their attempts.
 
Wake Forest’s 52.3 percent from the field is the third-highest field goal percentage against the Eagles during conference play. Wake Forest recorded just eight turnovers, the second lowest by the team this season and the second-lowest committed against the Eagles in ACC play this season. Every Wake Forest player that recorded minutes, scored at least three points and pulled down at least one rebound in the win over Boston College.
 
Andrew Carr went for a monster double-double, his second of the season, posting game highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds. The 6-11 forward made 10-of-14 field goal attempts. Carr has poured in 43 total points in his last two showings. Cameron Hildreth was just as impressive, plugging in 20 points and handing out six assists in 37 minutes of court time. Likewise to Carr, it was the sophomore guard’s second straight performance of 20 or more points.
 
Making a handful of head-turning plays, Tyree Appleby pieced 17 points, seven assists, and three steals. His mark in assists led all individuals. Bobi Klintman and Davion Bradford each gave a spark as reserves, chipping in nine and eight points, respectively. Klintman was on target from three-point territory, making all three of his attempts.
